E augmented is played in open position as 0 3 2 1 1 0: pinky finger on the A string at fret 3, ring finger on the D string at fret 2, index finger on the G string at fret 1 and middle finger on the B string at fret 1. The low E and high e strings ring open.

Tip — The pinky must reach the 5th string at the 3rd fret while the index and middle hold the 1st fret without muting the open strings.

E augmented is played at the 5th fret as × 7 6 5 5 ×: barre your index finger across fret 5, ring finger on the A string at fret 7 and middle finger on the D string at fret 6. The low E and high e strings stay muted.

E augmented is played at the 8th fret as × × × 9 9 8: middle finger on the G string at fret 9, ring finger on the B string at fret 9 and index finger on the high e string at fret 8. The low E, A and D strings stay muted.
