B minor add 9 is built from B, D, F♯ and C♯. The 9th in the bass gives this advanced voicing a luminous, suspended quality.

The default voicing places C♯ in the bass, creating a floating effect. For a root-position sound, use B minor and add the 9th as a passing tone.
