02

Get a chart you can play

Audio analysis estimates the key, tempo and chords. Review the chart and save it. Add lyrics yourself or try the optional transcription feature.

03

Practice it, keep it

Save your chart to your songbook. With audio analysed on this device, loop a passage and adjust or mute the separated tracks.

Your chart and practice tools, together

Upload a track, loop any part

Analyse a browser-supported audio file to estimate its key, tempo and chords. On the device that processed it, select a passage to loop while you practise.

Lyrics transcription, when you need it

Try one free transcription attempt, then continue with a Pro subscription. Enable transcription when adding a recording or choose Transcribe afterwards. Review the words and chord timing for mistakes.

Ask it like you’d ask a teacher

Ask about theory or technique, or use Pro to have the AI assistant look up and edit charts in your cloud library. It can show chord and scale diagrams for your instrument. These are illustrative examples; answers and edits can vary.

Try Fmaj7 instead of F in the verse

Swapped F for Fmaj7 and saved V2. This changes the harmony, so check it against your melody.

What can I solo with over Harbor Lights?

A minor pentatonic — start in the box at the 5th fret. Roots are marked.

Move it to E minor for my voice

Done — Am F C G becomes Em C G D. No capo needed.

Questions, answered

Something else? Get in touch.

Which instruments does it work with?

Guitar, bass and ukulele. Choose your default instrument for chord and scale diagrams, or switch instruments while practising.

Where do my songs come from?

From you. Paste lyrics and chords in ChordPro format, or analyse your own recording to estimate its key, tempo and chords. Optional lyric transcription includes one free attempt; further use requires a Pro subscription and is subject to its monthly allowance. We never pull songs from the web.

How accurate is audio analysis?

Stem separation and chord detection run on your device. Results depend on the recording and can contain mistakes: instruments may bleed into other stems, and chords, key or timing may need correcting. You can edit the chart before saving and afterwards.

What if a chord is wrong?

Edit it on the sheet and save your changes. With Pro, you can also ask the AI assistant to edit charts saved in your cloud library. Saving chart changes creates a new version; you can view and restore earlier versions from the version menu.

How does the Pro allowance work?

AI chat and lyric transcription share your Pro monthly allowance. Usage varies by request, so the allowance does not guarantee a fixed number of answers or recordings. It resets on the first day of each month.

I’m a complete beginner. Is it for me?

You can explore chord diagrams, use the tuner and metronome, and ask the AI assistant for easier voicings or a simpler strumming pattern. AI suggestions can be wrong, so listen and check that they fit your song.

Does it work on my phone?

Fretline works in a browser on phone and desktop. Audio processing speed and supported file formats depend on your device and browser.

Where are my songs stored?

Free songs and edits stay in this browser. Pro can save new charts to the cloud for access on other devices. Upgrading does not automatically move existing local songs. On Free, analysed recordings, stems and playback timing stay on the device that processed them; clearing browser data can remove local songs and audio. Pro uploads the stems of a cloud song as MP3 and the analysis beside them, so the song plays on every signed-in device. Transcription sends audio for cloud processing.
