B minor major 7th is built from B, D, F♯, and A♯. The barre at the 2nd fret with a pinky stretch makes this an advanced grip.

B minor major 7th uses the formula 1, ♭3, 5, 7. The minor 3rd between B and D sets the minor quality, while the major 7th from B to A♯ adds the leading tone. Compare with B minor to hear the added A♯.
B minor major 7th suits jazz and minor-key ballads. Use it as a tonic in B minor, resolving to B minor or moving to C♯ minor 7th flat 5th.
The default voicing has D in the bass, giving a darker, inverted sound. For a brighter voicing with F♯ in the bass, use the 4-6-6-5 position.
